Level Up

Every so often there may come a time in your life when you feel displaced. You may start feeling unsettled, agitated or restless. You will probably be able to ignore it for a while but eventually it will become persistent. Your need for change will grow to the degree that you can ignore it no longer. It’s normal to be a little disturbed by this feeling but you can only outrun it for so long. At some point you’re going to have to listen to the voice within, the one that is telling you it is time. It’s time to level up.

Although it may feel scary, this is actually a time of great fortitude for you. If you choose to accept the challenge your higher self is offering you, you’ll find that you have carte blanche. An opportunity to change your life for the better. The prospect of changing the direction of your life and your future. A chance to explore the endless possibilities that await you on the other side of your comfort zone. The fact is that we all have this option available to us at any time, and we have the power to create any reality we choose.

What Changes Would You Make?

Have you thought about the kind of reality that you would create if you had the time, freedom or inclination? What areas of your life would you like to level up? Would you change your job? Or start your own business? How about your location, would you like to move somewhere new? Maybe you’d like to learn a new skill or even go back into education? It could be as simple as trying to improve your health. Do you need to exercise more or make a few changes to your lifestyle?

There are many areas of your life that could be upgraded. Whichever it is that you desire to take to the next level, don’t ignore the push that your inner voice is giving you. Grab this opportunity with both hands and begin creating your transformation. When you accept that you’re capable of transforming your life into any number of possible outcomes, you’ll realise that anything is possible for you. If you believe in yourself and have the desire to level up your life.

Reinvent Yourself

Think of levelling up as an opportunity to reinvent yourself. Each level is a unique turning point, a chance to address who you are now and whom you’d like to become. To explore avenues you hadn’t considered before. What’s the biggest, most impossible dream you ever had? Why not start there? If you’re not ready for the ultimate transformation just yet, why not try taking the first step toward that huge goal and see how far you get?

You may be surprised by how much you can actually achieve. That alone may be enough to shorten the distance between the current you and the future you, enough to show you that it is all possible. Maybe not right away, but sooner than you imagined. Once you take that first step, it’s amazing how all the other steps fall into place, one after another. The momentum that the initial action creates is enough to carry you through your plan, and on to bigger and better ideas. You really can take it anywhere you choose. All that is required is your willingness to follow your heart in the direction of your dreams.

What’s The Point Of It All?

There was a time in my own life when the daily grind became too much for me. I had always dutifully gone to work like a good member of society should, as that was what had been drummed into me for as long as I can remember. But there came a time when the monotony became so overwhelming that I started questioning everything about my life. Not just the futility and pointlessness of wasting a lifetime by doing an unfulfilling job and struggling to make ends meet. But also the reason we are even here, if that is all we are here to do. It very nearly became a full scale existential crisis.

I’m happy to say it didn’t because before it got that far, I was informed by someone quite casually, that it didn’t have to be that way. All I had to do was make the changes I wanted to see in my life. I was of course, dumbfounded by the nonchalant suggestion that it could be that simple to reinvent yourself. It took some time for this possibility to sink in and take shape in my thoughts, but take shape it did. And slowly the idea that the simplicity of this notion may actually work became a persistent, nagging feeling that would not leave me.

Keep It Simple

I decided I would stop assuming everything was difficult and try a simpler approach. What would it feel like if I changed my default setting to one of ease? If I went into new situations with the attitude that it would be easy and everything was working out for me. Maybe that would make the difference between me staying stuck where I was, and becoming the me I wanted to be. The simplification of my life went something like this.

Step 1. Deciding what I wanted to change.

Step 2. Researching what I needed to do to make that change possible.

Step 3. Doing it.

And it worked………..

When I broke it down into these three simple steps, I started getting results. I asked myself the question ‘What do I want to change?’ many times. Believe me when I say there was plenty I wanted to change. I started with small things like, ‘How can I like myself more?’ Then I set about doing nice things for myself. I spoke to myself nicely and stopped the negative self talk. Took the time to do things I liked doing, reading and journaling and spending time by myself. When I treated myself like I would treat a friend, I began to like and trust myself again.

Ask Yourself Questions

When I had repaired my relationship with myself, I moved on to bigger things like improving my job and my finances. This took more time but I still used the same three step process to make these changes. Asking myself, ‘What changes do I need to make?’ and ‘What action do I need to take to make that happen?’. Then taking the action to put those changes into motion. I’m still surprised that something so simple was the key to turning my life into something I was happy with and fully engaged in. And I’ll be forever grateful to the person that offered me this pearl of wisdom.

If you’re feeling compelled to take your life to the next level, start by evaluating where you are now. Then think about what you would like next. Do you want to reinvent yourself? Do you trust yourself enough to see it through? What changes do you need to make? Is it within your power to change? Outline areas you need to work on. What skills do you need to learn? Which circles do you need to move in, that may assist you in your mission?

Final Thoughts

When you’ve considered all of these questions, remember to keep it simple and do whatever is required to make the changes you want to see in your life. When you’re called to level up, don’t ignore it. Use it as an opportunity to make a difference in your life. Then use the next level to make a difference in the lives of others. Your purpose is calling you. You are here for a reason. Listen to your heart and do everything you can to fulfil that purpose.
