September 2022 Update

It’s our September Update, there’s chill in the air and autumn has arrived. As we say goodbye to summer and look ahead to the final quarter of the year, I’m reminded of the dark nights that will soon be here. This time of year brings a bleakness and despondency to some, but for me it carries a contentment and a hopefulness. As we descend into the twilight of this year, we are given a chance to take stock of all the work we have done so far. And another chance to prepare ourselves for all that we still must to do to end the year well.

What Works Best For You?

What rituals or processes do you have to prepare for Q4? Are you organised with a plan for each month of the year? Or do you prefer to improvise and think on your feet? Whichever way you like to set and achieve your own goals is fine. Finding what works best for you is an important part of the puzzle. My own preferred way is to start out with a rough monthly schedule for the year. With all the main goals I’ve set for myself at the end of the previous year. Then, as the year progresses, I like to change and rearrange as I go.

If we’re being honest with ourselves, we know that things rarely go to plan and sometimes we just change our mind. That’s why I like to have a general idea of my main goals and a timeline for them. But it’s important to be flexible and move with the changes as they arise. If something I had planned isn’t going to work anymore or the timing needs to be changed, then so be it. I’m prepared to move it to a better time or scrap it altogether, if I decide its the right decision.

What Still Needs To Be Done?

Do you know what you need to do in this final quarter of 2022? What measures do you need to take now to ensure you’re satisfied with your progress when 31st December rolls around? What have you noticed about yourself so far this year that you can work on during the next couple of months? I may have lingered a little longer than I should have on certain projects. Now is the time to knuckle down and make some progress while the time is still available. There’s still time and I want to make it count.

I’m about to wrap up one project and begin another. With the knowledge I’ve gained during the current activity, I feel wiser about time constraints and the action I need to take to keep the new project running smoothly and on schedule. Whenever we undertake any task, there are always things to be learnt. Even if you’re an expert in your field, you can still evaluate your own performance and use the findings to improve your performance. There is always room for improvement. Time moves quickly so make sure you know where you’re at now, what you need to do to move forward, and where you want to finish.
