Awareness Of Your Own Potential

Let’s begin with some questions. When you think about your life, what was it that got you to where you are now? Was it a process you were aware of? Were you instrumental in the unfolding of events? Did you take planned steps to arrive at this point. Or did you end up in your current situation without any input of your own? Are you just a victim of circumstance? Did you have any awareness of your own potential?

How much of the experience we call life did you get involved in? Did you point your compass in the direction you wanted to go? Or did you leave it to chance, fate, destiny or whatever you prefer to call it?

I’ve got another question for you. The most important one so far. How is it going for you? Are you happy?

Here’s the thing, some people don’t realise that they have a choice in how their lives turn out. They’re simply unaware that they don’t have to accept their current circumstances.

We all have the power to make changes and improve our lives whenever we decide we want to. At any time, we can make the decision to change an element of our existence or all of it, if we choose to.

Some Do, Others Don’t

I was thinking about this the other day. If we can change our lives whenever we choose to, why do some people never make that choice?

There are several reasons of course. Some people don’t want to. Others want to but keep putting it off. There are those who try and fail, get disheartened and give up. And, there is another group of people entirely….

Those that do not know this option is available to them.

I gave this a lot of thought and I realised that I used to be one of them.

What makes some of us aware of our own potential from the beginning? What is the difference between self-aware individuals and the others that aren’t. Is it background, location, education or religion? Or is it none of the above that contributes to the rate at which we become aware of our own power?

I don’t know the answer to this question, but I can draw from my own experience of when I became aware of my own potential.

How It Started

It wasn’t very long ago, only five, maybe six years at most that I started to realise that I had a lot more options than I previously thought. Prior to this my life had been stagnant. I had no awareness of my own potential. I was of the belief that my life was fixed. That I had to accept it as it was, whether I was happy or not. I didn’t know that a life of my choosing was available to me. I believed we got what we were given and there was no deviation from that.

Why I believed this I do not know, maybe it was social conditioning or an influence from childhood. Nevertheless, I was of the opinion that I couldn’t have what I wanted. The things other people had. I believed that I was fated to living the small, underprivileged life filled with scarcity and lack that I had become accustomed to.

It never occurred to me that I could change my future. I had no awareness of my own potential. My thought patterns and beliefs were so deep-seated that I couldn’t see that there was another way. Another way of thinking that would open up new perspectives and possibilities.

How I came to this realisation is something that will be discussed later. But needless to say, when I did begin my awakening, a new world was opened up to me and I started making decisions that changed my life for the better. I started asking myself questions and setting goals based on the answers. I would work towards these small goals every day and sure enough, I started to improve my life.

You Can Do It Too

When you realise that the person you are now doesn’t need to be the person you will become, you start to want more for yourself. You become creative with the options you have. And when you start to play with opportunities you find that several more present themselves that you never would have expected.

There are infinite possibilities available to you if you’re prepared to think differently about yourself and start believing that you are the creator of your life. When you start believing in yourself, you’ll be surprised how quickly things start to change for you. Your willingness to believe you can create change will get you the results you want.

Become an active participant in your life because we only get what we belief we can have. It’s up to you to work on your beliefs to make sure that your hopes and dreams become your reality.
